Rosella In The Middle

From the Los Angeles Herald, Number 18, 21 November 1914:

MARITAL TRAGEDY CAUSES POLICE TO SEEK BABY GIRL
Loving "daddy” and "muvver” with all her childish heart, pretty, 4-year-old Rosella May Cameron, who, it is said, has played the part of shuttlecock between her estranged parents for some months, today was sought by police detectives who also searched for her mother, Bessie Cameron, and a man named Finley Johnson. Mrs. Cameron and Johnson, who are said by the detectives to have spirited the little girl away, are sought on a complaint issued by the city prosecutor's office. Back of this charge, it is said, a suit for divorce is about to be filed by Harry Cameron against his wife. The troubles of the Camerons, it is said, grew out of a girlhood romance of Mrs. Cameron and Johnson.

Cameron...were married about six years ago, it is said, and they were happy for at least two years. Then trouble came. Johnson, who was said to have been an oldtime sweetheart of Mrs. Cameron’s, according to Cameron, renewed his acquaintanceship with her. Some months ago, unable to agree, the Camerons separated, the wife taking the little girl. She refused, it is said, to allow her husband to see the child. She also brought suit for divorce, but this suit never was tried. Cameron retained Detective Samuel L. Browne and Mrs. Cameron and Johnson were “shadowed,” the detectives say. Detectives attempted to serve divorce papers upon Mrs. Cameron, but she flitted from place to place, eluding service. Then a charge was made on which a warrant was issued and the police are seeking Johnson and Mrs. Cameron, who thus far have managed elude all pursuit.

Annie Emily was most likely the daughter of Ewen and Catherine (Cameron) Cameron of Drummond, Lanark, Ontario, Canada.  She was mentioned in her brother's (John E. Cameron) estate.

Duncan Henry Cameron was Annie Emily Cameron's husband.  He was a doctor:

Excerpts from the Perth Courier at Rootsweb included this tidbit:

Duncan Henry Cameron was the son of Peter and Margaret Cameron.

A young lady named Kathleen Young Cameron, whose remains were buried in Perth a few weeks ago was the daughter of the late Dr. Duncan H. Cameron of Emerson, Manitoba and a grand daughter of the late Peter Cameron of Bathurst.  The deceased was also a grand daughter of Ewen Cameron of Arnprior on her mother’s side.

Duncan And Ellen Cameron In 1851 Census

...which was taken in 1852 in West Canada (now Ontario).

Source

(The related 1851 Agricultural census page)

About the 1851 census:

"While the census for New Brunswick and Nova Scotia was completed in 1851, Canada West and Canada East did not start their collection of data until the following year. Therefore, for Canada West and Canada East, what is known as the Census of 1851 officially began on January 12, 1852."

Is it possible that they (Duncan and Ellen) were married when census was taken (married 13 May 1852)?  I have not been able to pinpoint precisely when this particular census page was enumerated.
