Ticket To Owen Cameron

On 17 Dec 1787 the Honorable John Collins issued a Ticket of Location to Owen Cameron and John Ault for 200 acres of Crown land to each on Lot 3 and 4 in Concession VIII in the Twp. of Cornwall. They promptly began improving their land by erecting houses, barns and outbuildings. They were later informed by Mr. Chewett, the acting surveyor for the Eastern District, that the name Scott appeared on their Lot on the survey map. On 5 Apr 1791 Cameron and Ault petitioned the Land Board to clarify their situation for they felt that Scott's name had been inserted in the survey map with fraudulent intent and that they were the legal owners of the land. Their petition was granted and Ault and Cameron were declared the legal owners of Lot 3 on 10 June 1791.75,76 John Ault subsequently sold this farm. [Source]
