Lucy Cameron Of Cape Breton

Cameron, Lucy
Petition to Nepean: Petitioner has lived in Cape Breton for 25 years. Many years before she was married to John Cameron, a lieutenant in the Orange Rangers, who abandoned his wife and large family. Petitioner has since supported herself and family without public aid. She asks a lease of a lot at Cow Bay which her husband held under licence from Pres. Matthews. Note: complied with.

Lucy may be Lucy (Godfrey) Cameron.

Military Camerons In Canada - Index Cards



Camerons were found on online military records from the Library and Archives Canada, entitled "British Military and Naval Records," (RG 8, C Series) (Index only).

The first Cameron card on Microfilm C-11799 was Image 1104; the example below is Image 1172:

One Dad, Two Allans

Images 259 / 260 mentioned that Allan was the son of Allan and also the son of John (John was in faint print and in a different place on the page).  Petitioner was soldier of RRNY's son.  Allan Cameron E 1/2 of 4 Cornwall (or could say E 1/2  2 - 4).  4 Con. Cornwall...Recommended for Scrip equal to 200 acres, C. L. D.  18 May 1850  [See pages for additional information]

Affidavit of Samuel Hunter re: two sons named Allan

County of York...Of the Township of South Gower, Yeoman maketh oath @ saith; That he is personally and well acquainted with the late Allan Cameron, formerly of Cornwall an U. E. Loyalist.  That the said Allan Cameron was married twice and had children by both wifes [sic].  That one son by the first wife is named Allan, who drew his land in the Township of of West Meath*.  That the second son Allan by his second marriage has never drawn any land or received any order for land as he this deponent verily believes, and that he is the person represents who in the petition now before government and described in the said petition as Allan Cameron the second which is the fact and truth as explained above.  Samuel Hunter  *Note:  I think it said West Meath

A document dated 1 July 1876:

3.  Elizabeth Malloch, sister of deceased
     Peter Malloch, her husband
4.  Christina Drummond, sister of deceased
     James Drummond, her husband

A document dated 15 June 1876:
...Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Perth....appeared Charles Graham Sidery?, Esq., an ex Lord Provost of the City of Perth...personally acquainted with the family of the late Charles Cameron, road contractor in Perth, Mrs. Elizabeth MacPherson or Cameron, described as a party granter of the Deed of Power of Attorney is his widow.  ...deceased Charles Cameron formerly of Perth and afterwards of Saint Louis, Missouri in the United States of American was their son. .......

There was an affidavit from William Cameron, builder in Perth, who stated that the late Charles Cameron, road contractor, was his uncle and that his uncle's son Charles Cameron, went to Saint Louis.

Another document indicated that Mrs. Elizabeth...[truncated document] of Perth, Perthshire, Scotland, of 48 Athole Street, as well as her daughters, were in favor of Alfred C. Bagshawe [power of attorney?].
