Harrison Cameron of this city passed. away at Mercy Hospital Thursday evening of last week at 5  o'clock after having been ill for over a year and most of that time a patient at Mercy Hospital. Following an operation performed over a year age he seemed to gradually improve until a week preceding his death, when he began to fail.  Mr. Cameron was a patient sufferer, being rarely heard to complain. During his stay at the hospital he was converted to the catholic faith and his funeral was held at St Mary's church Saturday morning, Rev. Fr. A. O. Bosler singing the high mass of requiem. The remains were taken on the noon train to Standish and were laid to rest in St. John's cemetery beside the remains of a son who died in infancy. Harrison Albert Cameron was born Feb. 26, 1859 in Province of Ontario, Canada, and in 1893 was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Lynch at  Cleveland, Ohio. To the union was born seven children, six of whom survive. On coming to Michigan the family made their home in Standish for a number of yeas, and before coming to Grayling ten years ago they resided in Frederic for a brief time. Mr. Cameron, owing to his ill health had been forced to give up his work at the du Pont plant, for which company he had been employed since its
establishment in Grayling. He was said to be a faithful and conscientious worker, at all times. Those surviving the deceased are his wife and his children, Mrs. Joseph Corrigan of Bay City Miss Oral Cameron training for nurse at Harper Hospital training school, Detroit, Clare, teacher of the Sigsbee school and Meredith, Ivan and Leola at home, many Also three brothers survive, James of this city, Jess of Standish and Donald of Northland, Mich. Her dad, John, AKA Phillip, worked in the factories (in Flint) and commuted from Sterling.  He was found slumped over (stroke) dead in a boarding house when Charlotte was 14.  Her mother, Francis, had been previously married and has other children.

Husband Aubrey lived down the street in Sterling and remembers Aunt Annie & Uncle Donald and played with Donald, Jr.

(Charlotte's) Grandma & Grandpa Cameron were cousins from Scotland.  Came to Michigan in covered wagons.  One child may have died enroute.  Remembers her dad being able to speak French a little due to early schooling in French.  Mentioned Earl Keeney in Mapleridge as a relative.  Other Camerons in Standish not related.

*Realized as I was composing this blog that even though I have copies of Richard Cameron's probate file from Arenac County, Michigan (see link above), I'm not sure that Folio 88 is the correct number because I don't have the file/folio number written down...Geez... . [Believe it's the only file for Richard Cameron, but will have to verify it]

From the website of Cameron descendant Sandy Nye:

**child viii. Ewen (Hugh) CAMERON was born on 19 Jun 1860. He died on 23 Feb 1929. Was a batchelor, died of acute indigestion. Probate records included distribution of oil well rights to family members

Note:  My grandmother [Beatrice (Cameron) Powers; her father Donald was Ewen's brother] was an heir; when she died her portion of Ewen (Hugh) Cameron's estate was inherited by me and my siblings (Dad pre-deceased his mother by a couple of months, so what would have been his share passed to us).  The shares are basically worthless in terms of money, but the documentation determining Ewen (Hugh) Cameron's heirs is valuable to a genealogist.

Camerons: Ewen & Jane And Donald & Grace

Ewen & Jane Cameron of Templeton, Canada, who died of cholera in the summer of 1852 had two sons, John Cameron, born in 1829 and Allan Randolph Cameron, born in 1831. They were married 31 January 1827 in Lochliel, Glengarry, Canada.

Allen Randolph Cameron immigrated to Victoria, Australia, around 1860, mined gold fields there and married Annie Kelly in 1868.

It is believed that my ancestor, Allen Cameron, was the grand-uncle of John Cameron & Allan Randolph Cameron. Was he related through their mother or their father or both? The first two signatures of Richard P. Cameron were written in April of 1865; the last one was in April of 1896, less than a week before he died. I'm no handwriting expert, but the "R" in Richard seems to be consistent in all three signatures.
