Below are excerpts from just a few of the newspapers online that are held at the University of British Columbia Library (Archives):

-Born at Cape Breton, N.S.

Similkameen Star, published Nov 20, 1907

"Of the 90 who stayed at Cariboo the first winter, seven were women--Mrs. Winnard, Scotch Jennie, afterwards Mrs. Allan...Lizzie Roddie, who married A.D. McLaness, of Fort Alexander, Mrs. Richard Cameron, Mrs. Ben Van Volkenburgh, a Mrs. Donnelly, Mrs. John A. Cameron, wife of Cariboo Cameron, and a French woman."

"It was on the 22nd of August, 1862, that Jno. A. Cameron and myself staked the well known Cameron claim on Williams creek, from which about a million dollars was taken.  Yours, truly, Robert Stevenson."
